Ramakrishna Ashram

Ramkrishna Ashram of Rajkot propagates the universal teachings of Vedanta. The Ramkrishna Ashram illustrates the life of Ramakrishna and promotes universal brotherhood and religious harmony.

The Ramarishna Ashram is a part of the Ramkrishna Math and aims at teaching self realization and service to the world. The objectives of the Ramkrishna Ashram are as follows:

• To promote religious harmony and universal brotherhood
• To look upon men as the manifestations of God
• To propagate universal teachings of Vedanta
• To serve all according to their intellectual and spiritual needs

The Ramkrishna Ashram undertakes a number of activities for the benefit of the society. Some of the important activities undertaken by the Ramkrishna Ashram at Rajkot are:

• Rural Development Work
• Relief and rehabilitation work
• Educational Work
• Spiritual and Cultural Work

Beside these activities, the Ramkrishna Ashram of Rajkot also carries out a number of other activities in Rajkot. Some of the other activities of the ashram are:

• To maintain a Universal Temple of Ramkrishna
• To organize classes to propagate the spiritual ideas and values taught by Shri Ramkrishna
• To release Ramkrishna-Vivekananda-Vedanta literature
• To serve the poor and needy
• To promote education and the facilities for good reading
• To publish 'Shri Ramakrishna Jyot' for spreading of national spiritual culture
• To conduct relief and rehabilitation activities during natural calamities
• To celebrate the birthdays of Shri Ramkrishna etc.

The Ramkrishna Ashram has a Universal Shri Ramkrishna Temple that was built in 1979. In this temple regular pujas, arti, path and prayers are conducted. People of all denominations take part in the prayers which are usually held on every Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday.
