Both Geography and History of Andhra Pradesh attract many tourists to the state, every year. This is the land where the cultures of North and South of India merge. This is the reason why Andhra Pradesh is popularly known as the 'land of many contrasts'. While the presence of hills, rivers, lakes and sea contribute to the geographical diversity of the state, the multi layered historical background is responsible for the cultural diversity of Andhra Pradesh.


Today culture of Andhra Pradesh is a fascinating blend of the Dravidian lifestyle of the south and the Muslim influence of the North. During the rule of Emperor Ashoka Buddhism flourished very well in this region and some trace of the Buddhist past is still extant. French and British influence were also spread here during the 18th century.


The total Area of Andhra Pradesh is 275,068 sq. km. This land area is divided into 23 districts. Hyderadad, Vishkhapatanam and Warangal are among the most important districts of this state. In general the climate of these places are hot and humid. But the winters are comparatively pleasant. Places in and around the coastal plain are good for visiting during the winters, between the months of October and February.


Andra Pradesh is one of the largest producer of rice in India. It has been possible as a large patch of land is blessed by the generous rivers Krishna and Godavari and is thus fertile.
