Basilica of Bom Jesus

Basilica of Bom Jesus also called Basilica of Bom Jesu is located in the state of Goa. This is a church that is located in the ancient part of Goa. It is just 10 km away from the capital city of Goa, Panaji.

It is one of the most eminent monumental landmarks in the history of Christian religion. It is a very famous church ion Goa that is a primary tourists spot in Goa state. This church has the image of St. Francis Xavier who was a disciple of Ignatious Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits community. He was a soldier who later on metamorphosed into a saint. The church sees a huge multitude of visitors every year. This enormous monumental structure was built by a skilled sculptor from Florence called Giovanni Battista Foggini.

The church Basilica of Bom Jesus is one of the most prosperous churches in the state of Goa. This church has been built in exquisite style. The interiors have been finely decorated. The floors have been made out of white marble. The smooth pathway of the altars is worth appreciating. The church has many paintings amongst which the painting of St. Francis Xavier is the most noteworthy. On the upper side of the church there lies the most enchanting relics of art called the Bom Jesus Basilica Art Gallery.

Basilica of Bom Jesus church is open to public viewing from 9 in the morning to 6.30 in the evening. Public masses are held only on Sundays from 8 am and continues to 9.15 am. During the weekdays masses are held from 7 am to 8 am.
