Margoa - Dona Paula Beach




Margoa - Dona Paula Beach is one of the popular tours from Margao undertaken by the tourists. The beach is situated at a short distance from the city of Margao. The tourists may participate in various water sports activities that are available in the Dona Paula Beach.

Dona Paula Beach is situated at a distance of 7 kilometers from the city of Panaji. Regular buses ply from Panaji and Margao to Dona Paula Beach. Popular folklore has it tat the beach is named after Dona Paula de Menzes, the daughter of the former Viceroy of the region. She was refused the permission to marry the local fisherman, Gasper Dias whom she loved. Dona Paula de Menzes gave her life jumping from a cliff. The local people residing near the beach believe that the spirit of Dona Paula de Menzes emerges from the sea on a moonlight night draped in only a necklace.

The clubs and the sports centers along the beach are furnished with the water sports facilities that are tourists may avail. water-skiing, water-scooter, toboggan ski-biscuit,motorboat rides, sports fishing, snorkeling, harpoon fishing, kayaking, ski bob, yachting and para sailing are some of the water sports in which the tourists may participate.
