Koraput which is a district of Orissa, was formed in the year 1936 on the 1st of April. Covering a total geographical area of 8,379.30 Square Kilometers, the district of Koraput has a total population of approximately 11,77,954 people. At an elevation of 3000 feet from the minimum Sea level, the topography of Koraput is somewhat table like with an undulating landscape which is dotted with hundred of hills.
There are four distinct seasons in the climate of Koraput, the winter season, the summer season, the monsoon season and the post monsoon season. The area receives a great amount of rainfall due to the depression from the Bay of Bengal and Koraput receives an annual average rainfall of 1,778 millimeters.
