The sub-divisional town of Kaliabor is located 48 kilometers east of Nagaon town in the district of Nagaon in Assam. The town was the administrative seat of Borphukans during the period of Ahom.

Tarun Gogoi, the Chief Minister of Assam, won from Kaliabor Parliamentary Constituency in 1991, 1998 and 1999. Kaliabor Parliamentary Constituency is a strong seat for the INC.
