Bauli Matha


Bauli Matha is one of the very famous Sikh pilgrimages in Puri. The matha is situated just 3.5 kilometers away from the main hub of Puri and is easily accessible through bus or car from Puri

The place is known for its exotic locale and serene environment. This place is an ideal for relaxation.

One can take the road from Syamakali Temple to the main road of Swargadwar. Moving ahead on this road towards the sea shore, one can easily locate the Bauli Matha of Puri. The place is surrounded by greenery and offers scenic beauty which makes it stand apart from other places.

Bauli Matha at Puri is treated like a Gurudwara by the Sikh devotees who visit the place. The Granth Saheb is kept there and prayers are offered to Guru Nanak Dev who had visited the place. It is said that when Guru Nanak Dev visited Jagannath Temple, he rested at this place for sometime.

It was during his stay here when Guru Nanak Dev dug a well which is known as Dedhasur Bhai Bohu Kua. Devotees visit this place throughout the year to worship this well and pray to Guru Nanak Dev.
