The Sagar district is located in the north central region of Madhya Pradesh and lies between north latitude 23º10' to 24º27' and east longitude 78º4' to 79º21'.
Having a total area of 10,252 square kilometers and a population of 2,021,783, the district has its headquarters at the town of Sagar.
The main occupation of the district is agriculture and wheat, soghum and oilseeds are the chief grown crops. Extensive cattle rising is also observed.
Sagar district has several fine tourist spots including the archaeological site near Eran and Sagar Lake.
