Lying between the north latitude 32º06' to 24º19' and east longitude 75º41' to 77º02', is the Shajapur district of Madhya Pradesh.

The district has its headquarters situated in the Shajapur town. The district has a total area of 6,200 square kilometers and a population of 10,33,000.

Shajapur has a great historical background and it is said that the place has earned its name from the Moughal Emperor - Shahjahan. According to the historians, Shahjahan visited the area in 1640.
