Ajay Devgan Biography
Born to famous Bollywood stuntman, fight master and director Veeru Devgan on April 2, 1967, Vishal alias Ajay Devgan began his film career by stepping into Bollywood in the early 1990s as an action hero.
He came into the limelight in 1991 with the release of “Phool aur Kantee” which won him the Filmfare Best Debut Award. It is said that he used to follow his father to the film sets and shootings which proved instrumental in developing his interest in the field.
Originally a resident of Punjab, Ajay completed his graduation from Silver Beach High School in Juhu and Mithibai College and then stepped into the Hindi film industry. Apart from his father, Ajay’s cousin brother – Anil is also into Bollywood film direction. He married renowned Bollywood actress Kajol in February 24, 1999. Kajol gave birth to their daughter Nysa on 20th April 2003. There second child- a boy was born on 13th September 2010 in Mumbai. The celebrity parents have named him Yug.
Ajay learnt to perform stunts right from his childhood after his stunt man father. Hence the initial films portray Ajay more as an action hero. Soon he shifted from action movies to romantic comedies like “Ishq” in 1997. Films like “Hum Dil de Chuke Sanam” in 1999 saw Ajay deliver one of his best performances. Ajay gave some critically acclaimed performances in movies like ‘Zakhm’ (1998), ‘Dil Kya Kare’ (1999), ‘Company’ and ‘The Legend of Bhagat Singh’ (2002), ‘Bhoot’ (2003), ‘Kaal’ (2005) and ‘Omkara’ (2006).
