Arjun Atwal Biography

Arjun Atwal is a 34 year old internationally renowned golfer. Arjun Atwal was born on March 20, 1973 in the town of Asansol in West Bengal, India.

He started playing golf from the age of 14. His learning began at the Royal Calcutta Club which is one of the oldest golf clubs present outside United Kingdom. He studied liberal arts for two years in the US (Nassau Community College in Long Island, NY). He became a professional golfer in 1995.

His victories on the Asian Tour comprises the 1999 Wills Indian Open, the 2000 Hero Honda Masters (India), the 2000 Star Alliance Open( Hong Kong). He has two European Tour victories to his name. Firstly in the year 2002 he won the Caltex Singapore Masters with a five-stroke victory. In the same year he went on to become the first player on the Asian PGA to cross one million dollar earnings by winning the Hero Honda Masters in India.

The year 2006 was a very bad year for him. He missed out in a play-off against Tiger Woods when he failed at the Buick Invitational in La Jolla, California.

He met with a deadly car accident on March 10,2007 in Florida. Though he wasn’t injured he is facing charges relating to this accident. Arjun Atwal is happily married with a son and resides in Florida.
