AIEEE - information

The All India Engineering Entrance Examination is a very important examination for students who want to study engineering, pharmacy, architecture and is conducted by the CBSE board, ministry of Human resource development, department of higher secondary education and the Government of India. The entrance exam gives students the eligibility to get admission to degree level courses in architecture, engineering and pharmacy at the deemed universities.

Eligibility criteria

Students who want to qualify for the admission via the AIEEE have to be eligible for the entrance test. It is necessary that they pass the 12th grade from a recognized university or any equivalent examination. Students who are appearing in their 12th grade can also appear for AIEEE examination. One can also give the test if he is a student of final examination of two year course of Joint services wing of NDA. Student with HSC vocational examination or the one who has a 3 to 4 year diploma course passed from a recognized by any state board of technical education or by the AICTE.

The candidate must be less than 25 years on the date of application. For the SC and ST the age limit is 5 years relaxed. Candidate must be a citizen of India.

Application procedure

Application should be done online or submitted personally. The application form can be obtained by post from the Joint secretary, Institutional are, New Delhi, or the Central Board of secondary education or one can get it personally from the Regionally offices of the CBSE or the banks like the Syndicate Bank. The cost of the Information Bulletin along with examination fee is Rs. 300 for the open category and for the SC and ST candidates it is Rs. 150 only. In addition, one will have to bank draft Rs. 350 for the general category and Rs. 200 for SC and ST candidates to obtain the information bulleting that contains the application form by post.

List of universities

There are many well known universities in India who admit only those students who have scored good marks in the AIEEE examination. Only after they score beyond the cut off marks are students considered to get admission into these universities. They are: the National Institutes of Technology, Institutions in the States, Deemed universities, UTs apart from those covered by the JEE state level entrance examination whether paid or unpaid seats. Some of the central universities are:

National institutes of technology are:
  • Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad
  • Malviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur
  • Sardar Valllabhai Patel National institute of technology, Surat
Deemed Universities
  • Dr. D.Y. Patil Institute of Engineering and technology, Navi Mumbai
  • Dr. MGR Educational and Research Institute, Chennai
There are several other universities that are from the state, which are either government aided or non government aided institutions.
