IIT - JEE - information

IIT - JEE is considered as the top most entrance education that is difficult to crack by the average students. It should be given after one completes the 12th board examination. Many students dream of passing the IIT-JEE examination to get admission to the top most colleges in India. Around 17 colleges use JEE examination as their admission criterion for their undergraduate programs. Candidates who pass the entrance exam can apply for admissions to BArch, BTech, BDes, dual degree, Integrated MSc and integrated MSc and technology courses.

Eligibility criteria

Candidates can appear for the entrance exam only twice in consecutive years. They should pass the qualifying examination like the 12th grade. They should be below the age of 25 years. Students should have intermediate or two year pre university examination held by the recognized board. 3 to 4 year diploma recognized by the state board of technical education or the AICTE or HSC vocational examination. The candidates of the general category should pass with 60% marks in the qualifying exams. Those who belong to SC and ST and the physically challenged should score at least 55% marks.

There are some new IITs destination like the IIT Ropar, IIT Bhubaneshwar, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Patna, IIT Rajasthan, IIT Mandi, and IIT Indore.

Application procedure and exam

One can apply for the application form online or offline. A candidate should register offline by using the prescribed optical machine readable application form that can be bought from the bank branches by paying Rs. 200 for the processing charges. The form for the general category for male will cost Rs. 1800 and for the SC and ST male candidates Rs. 1000. However for all female candidates the fee will be Rs. 200. One can buy forms at Canara bank, Union Bank of India, State Bank of India, Axis Bank, Indian bank, Punjab National bank for the particular zones.

Important dates

The IIT-JEE examination day will be conducted on 2 April, 2017 (Sunday). The last date of registration for the examination is 2 January, 2017.

This year, JEE (Main) system have been joined by states like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Nagaland and Odisha. Therefore, candidates from these states have to fill in the JEE (Main) -2017 application form online.

Students need to have Aadhaar card issued by the UIDAI to fill the application form.

JEE 2017 will be conducted by IIT Madras on 21 May 2017.
