Xavier's Aptitude Test (XAT) - information

The Xavier's Aptitude Test or the XAT, as it is popularly known as is one of the most popular entrance exams at the national level admission for the MBA aspirants for the students all over India. The entrance exam is conducted in the XAT approved institutes to select the right candidate for XLRI management studies. The students are required to give the entrance exam so that they can enroll in a prestigious college like the XIMB, LIBA, BIM etc. The XAT is conducted by the XLRI School of business management and human resource Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. The courses available at these colleges are the business management, Human resource management, General Management program and the Fellow program in Management.

Fees and registration

The cost of the prospectus will differ as if you choose more than one program; the fees will be Rs. 1600. But if you choose one program, the fees will be Rs. 1000. For the SC and the ST students, the fees will be Rs 700 for one program and Rs. 1200 for more than one. After the registration takes place, the candidate should download XLRI pay-in-slip to obtain the prospectus from Axis branch. The form should then be filled and sent to the admission office. One can also send a demand draft. The office will then send the prospectus.

Eligibility

To be eligible to appear for the XAT, the candidates have to have completed a Bachelor's degree in any stream that comprise of three years duration or any equivalent degree will do in any discipline, but from a recognized college only. Candidates who are still in their final year can also apply for the XAT.

To be eligible for the one year general management program, It is also required of the candidate to be employed in a job and should have an experience of 5 years on the job. For the four year Fellow program in management, the candidate should have completed the master's degree in any discipline with 55% marks for the general category and 50% for SC and ST candidates.

Important dates

The online registration for the XAT will take place in the month of November, and the last date to submit the application form will be around 5th December. The admit card will be available in the month of December and the XAT will take place usually in the month of January.
