Chikmagalu
District, internationally renowned for its coffee literally means 'The Younger Daughter's Town' and encompasses an area of 7,201 sq. km.The 2001 Census has attested a net population size of 11,39,104. Although not in the forefront of industrial enterprise, agriculture forms the economic backbone of Chikmagulur, one of the leaders in coffee production in the world.
