Bidhan Chandra Roy (Awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1961)
Bidhan Chandra Roy was a reputed physician and was also a freedom fighter. He was the Chief Minister of Bengal from 1948 to 1962. Regarded as the Maker of Modern West Bengal, his birthday on 1 July is observed around the country as National Doctor’s Day.
