2010 Commonwealth Games, Badminton


Second to Olympics, Commonwealth Games was first started in the year 1930 in Hamilton. This major sporting event includes 31 sports and 7 'para sports', which are divided into 17 major disciplines. The first Common Wealth Games featured 6 major core sports which however did not include badminton.

Badminton was first introduced in Commonwealth Games of 1966, held in Kingston, Jamaica. Badminton is a core sporting event that includes both men and women participants.

In the Commonwealth Games badminton medals tally, England is leading with the maximum of medals in badminton, the number of medals won by England is 93, which include 34 gold medals, 27 silver medals and 32 bronze medals.

The south-eastern country, Malaysia is in the second position with 51 medals in all that include 20 gold medals, 19 silver medals and 12 bronze medals. The third rank holder is Canada with 2 gold medals, 10 silver medals and 6 bronze medals.

In the 2010 Commonwealth Games, which was held in Delhi, badminton included events that had men's single, women's single, men's double, women's double and mixed doubles. The participants were competing for 6 medals.

All the events of badminton of 2010 Commonwealth Games were scheduled to take place at the Siri Fort Sports Complex. The training venue of the participants is Siri Fort Sports Complex and Saket Sports Complex.
