Commonwealth Games Village

The Commonwealth Games 2010 are scheduled to be held in India specifically Delhi from 3 October to 14 October 2010. The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Delhi. This is the time that the Commonwealth Games are being held in India and the second time the event is being held in Asia.


Commonwealth Games Village, constructed by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on the eastern shore of River Yamuna adjoining Akshardham Temple at the Noida junction, is a high-tech zone. The Commonwealth Games Commission was astounded by the world-class services being incorporated for greeting the Commonwealth's sportspersons.

The Commonwealth Games Village brings out the feel of typical Indian hospitality both in terms of excellence and comfort level. With an area of 63.5 hectare and an investment worth USD 230.7 million solely for its construction, the site is believed to be one of the best games village.

For the accommodation of 8,000 competitors and team spokespersons, the village has 14 blocks, 1,168 well-furnished apartments and 34 towers. It also incorporates different kinds of public housings varying from two to five bedroom divisions, facilitated with top-class suite services.

Enclosed by lush green lands, the Commonwealth Games Village offers a peaceful and relaxing ambiance for both the sportspersons and bureaucrats. It is not only well connected but is also situated near some of Delhi's renowned sight seeing attractions such as the India Gate, Humayun's Tomb, Akshardham Temple, etc.

The transitory structures will host the assistance zones, Village Operation and International Areas. The commonwealth village construction work began in August 2007 and is scheduled to be completed by March 2010.
