Legislative Assembly in Hyderabad

The Legislative Assembly of Hyderabad is an impressive building situated within the enclosure of the Public Garden at the heart of Hyderabad city. It was built out of funds raised by citizens of Old Hyderabad State, on occasion of the 40th birthday of Nizam Mehboob Ali Khan in 1905. Completed in 1913, it initially functioned as the Town Hall.

This majestic white edifice was designed by commissioned architects who fused Rajasthani and Persian architecture. It houses the 295 seat Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

New additions have been made of late to accommodate the legislative offices of Ministers and political parties.

The New Assembly Building of Andhra Pradesh, adjoining the Old Assembly Building, is surrounded by lush green lawns. It was inaugurated in 1985 by the then Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi.

The architecture resembles that of the Old Building so closely that it is difficult to distinguish between the two buildings.
