The City of Thane is the administrative headquarters of the Thane District in the state of Maharashtra, India. On the Thana River lies Thane, in the northern lowlands of Konkan Coast. It is one of the developed suburbs in Mumbai. Thane is situated at an approximate distance of thirty kilometers from Mumbai's central business district.
