Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar
Introduction
It is a well known fact that the Indian Institute of Technology has opened many new branches in different cities of India. The initiative has been taken by the Government of India so that more and more students can obtain education from the premier engineering institute in the country. The current location of IIT Gandhinagar is Chandkheda, which is in close proximity to Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad. However, incessant efforts are on to build a permanent campus in Gandhinagar. The temporary campus at Chandkheda has excellent amenities and facilities for the students so that they can have well-rounded education.

Professor Dr. Sudhir K. Jain is the president of the organization. He has been in the position since 2009. Prof. Dr. Jain is an eminent academician, an engineering consultant as well as a pioneer in academic administration. With vast experience under his belt, Prof. Dr. Jain is leading the IIT Gandhinagar extremely efficiently.

Admission to IIT Gandhinagar
Admission is offered in all the programs that are mentioned above. The B.Tech. program is for four years and each year is divided into two semesters. Thus, there are eight semesters that have to be completed for getting a B.Tech. degree in IIT. Admission to the B.Tech. program is via the Joint Entrance Examination.
Admission is also offered for M.Tech., Ph.D., PGDIIT in Engineering, and other programs. Various criteria have to be fulfilled for getting admission to these programs successfully. A certain score credit has to be maintained as well to secure the degree. For admission in M.Tech., a valid GATE score is mandatory.
Research Projects
It is quite interesting to see that IIT Gandhinagar has many sponsored research projects running. These are in different subjects like Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mathematics, Chemistry, Humanities and Social Sciences, Cognitive Sciences, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The faculty at IIT Gandhinagar are highly educated and experienced in their respective fields. The majority of the assistant professors in the institute have degrees from the best institutes in the country as well as from abroad. Some of the professors also carry out various kinds of research works and therefore their practical experience is very high. Along with general professors and assistant professors in the institute, there are many distinguished honorary professors and guest professors. Professors from other IITs also come as visiting and guest professors to IIT Gandhinagar to share their knowledge and experience with the students.

Students at IIT Gandhinagar have drawn attention for their activities and vibrancy. They participate actively in various events and co-curricular activities. Counselling at IIT Gandhinagar
There might be times when students need a shoulder for support during their study period at IIT Gandhinagar. The Counselling Cell can be of great help during those times. The counsellors help the students to get prepared for the outer world and help them to learn to deal with depression and anxiety successfully. All the information that the students share with the counselors remain confidential.
Student Placement Office at IIT Gandhinagar
The student placement office at the institute offers preparations to the students for their jobs. This is done via practical training sessions and through small internship programs during summer and winter breaks. These programs give students first-hand training and experience to deal with different things. In-depth knowledge on the topics is also obtained via these programs.
