Jamia Millia Islamia, is one of the oldest Delhi Universities. Its importance was understood during the colonial period of India in the 1920s. Jamia Millia Islamia of Delhi got the status of a deemed university in the year of 1962 and after twenty six years, by the act of the Indian Parliament, it became a Central University.
