Pandit Dwarka Prasad Mishra Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing, Jabalpur also referred as IIIT-DM, Jabalpur is a Deemed University located in Jabalpur which concentrates on Manufacturing and Design. Popularly called IIIT-DM Jabalpur, this IIIT institute forms a part of the Indian Institute of Information Technology besides Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, Kanchipuram and Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Gwalior, Allahabad.
The Indian Institute of Information Technology-Design and Manufacturing, Jabalpur was set up in 2005 by Indian Government for offering skills to the students of engineering so that they can use their IT skills in the area of Design and Manufacturing.
The need to establish a national institution that would devote particularly to Design and Manufacturing and Information Technology was felt by the “Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD)” under the Government of India. It was envisioned that the academic institution would encourage excellence in the preferred fields of specialization and also facilitate and encourage the competitive benefit of various Indian manufacturing and products in world markets. Further, this Institute would also serve as an institution of inter-disciplinary research and education by focusing on the idea of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). The India Institute of Information Technology, Design & Manufacturing (IIITDM) Jabalpur was thus the result of this vision in mind. Industrial interface and cooperation with various research and academic institutes are the salient features of the Institution.
The vision of the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM) Jabalpur is to develop as a “Global Center of Excellence” in research and education in the field of engineering through the building up of “Enterprise of Knowledge” whereby the academic society that includes students with distinct creativity dubbed with strong and basic multidisciplinary skills, the capability for a brave innovative thought process involving an optimistic change as well as an honesty of character which is based on an active and purposeful pioneering spirit, will be involved in meaningful and purposeful innovations with an engineering approach that is knowledge-based.
The Mission of IIITDM Jabalpur, is to make an academic environment that is multi-disciplinary in order to train and prepare the manpower for excellence, promote and nurture activities based on knowledge and various innovations in fabrication, design, and manufacturing of diverse products through the collaboration and encouraging mix of various areas of engineering, science and arts. In the process, the Institution will also identify present and future programs for scholarship, share the discoveries and knowledge with the world and cultivate such individuals who have the capability and desire to contribute to the society.
