Diu Island Economy

Diu Island economy is dependent on the tourism industry since it witnesses a large number of tourists all the year round. Being an island on the west coast of India, there is a great potential for it to develop a seaweed factory, which would cater to the people of the Diu Island by providing them with new job opportunities.

Industry of Diu Island

The backbone of Diu Island is the tourism industry. It is a tiny island with not a large population. However, people are mostly employed in the tourism sector since there is not much scope for other industries to grow. The government is looking after the matter of establishing other industries like the salt industry and the seaweed industry for which the place is conducive.

The island has the potential to become a second Goa with all its resources and beautiful sea beaches. However, in the current situation it has a few hotels and small bars scattered around the place, which provides employment to the people. However, whatever industries are present in the region have developed in the northern region of the island. The southern region of the island has lovely beaches preserved for the tourists.
