Rajkot economy and business is dependent on a multitude of factors. The flourishing economy has changed the fate of the city that was once famed for its magnificent palaces. The historical city is today dotted with leading business conglomerates and corporate powerhouses, premier academic institutes, state of the art shopping malls with plush movie theaters, world class concerts and soirees coupled with chic restaurants, pubs and nightclubs while swanky cars ply through the city's roads.

The Rajkot industrial sector has been showing a lot of progress since the 1960s. At this time, Rajkot used to be one of the major regions of the state of Gujarat that were associated with heavy engineering industries.

The contribution of about 28 Crore Rupees by the World Bank for the infrastructural improvement of the city of Rajkot has helped in the development of the economic condition of Rajkot. Many well known companies have expressed their interest in the booming real estate sector.The infrastructural projects in Rajkot help to develop the economy of the region and give good opportunities to the companies of the district.

At present, this region has gained a lot of repute in a number of various industries including small scale and large scale industries. The Gujarat State Financial Corporation or GSFC and Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation or GIDC play a pivotal role in shaping the Rajkot economy.

Therefore it can be said that Rajkot economy and business is responsible to a great extent for the rapid growth of the region as one of the most important places of Gujarat state.
