31. Nusrat Jahan
She is a popular Bengali cinema actress. This year, Nusrat Jahan won the Lok Sabha elections 2019 from Basirhat Lok Sabha Constituency. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress gave her the ticket to fight the parliamentary elections. Interestingly, with a great stroke of luck, Jahan won by a huge margin of 3.5 lakh votes. Prior to this, her entry in Tollywood was made possible on winning the crown of “Fair-One Miss Kolkata” in 2010. Which further opened the doors for her towards a successful career as an actress. Nusrat Jahan is also fast becoming famous as a mascot for Indian secularism and emancipated womanhood, defying religious stereotypes by wearing Mangalsutra and Sindoor, and refusing to be bound by narrow cultural beliefs.
