49. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar
S.Jaishankar is an Indian diplomat turned politician. He was born in a well educated family in Delhi. He completed his graduation from Delhi university, and then moved to JNU for M.Phil and Ph.D He was an IFS officer, and rose to the rank of the foreign secretary. During his tenure, the stature of India rose steadily as an emerging world power capable of countering the force of much larger China. At present he is serving as the Minister of External Affairs in the Government of India. In June 2019, he was nominated as a member of the Rajya Sabha from Gujarat. He succeeded Sushma Swaraj as the External Affairs Minister.
