Akshaye Khanna is born into a family of actors on March 30, 1975 in
Mumbai. His father Vinod Khanna and brother Rahul (also a MTV VJ) are well-known Bollywood actors. Son of Vinod's first wife Geetanjali, Akshaye has acting in his blood. His natural acting skills combined with his looks have made him very popular among the modern Bollywood heroes. Vinod's reputation as a successful Bollywood hero laid the foundation of his son's film career.
Akshaye started his career in 1997 with his debut film 'Himalaya Putra' under the banner of in-house Vinod Khanna productions. This film unfortunately flopped at the box office. This first flop film however, could not suppress his talents as an actor. Akshaye's subsequent films brought out the hidden talents of this young hero. His first box office success, J.P Dutta's Border in 1997 was followed by a series of successful and hit films like:
