Diya Mirza

Diya Mirza was born on December 9, 1981 in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. A model turned Bollywood actress, she was Miss Asia Pacific for the year 2000 and also second runner up in the Miss India beauty contest in 2000.

Diya's father Frank Handrich was a German interior designer and her mother Deepa Mirza was a Bengali. They separated when she was six years old. Her father died when she was nine and her mother remarried a Muslim -Ahmed Mirza and so is she called Dia Mirza.

Though she has been brought up in a Muslim background she believes in Hinduism .She lived in Khairatabad, Hyderabad, and went to the Vidyaranya, a school based on the teachings of Krishnamurti.

Dia Mirza's film career started in 2001 with 'Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein '(RHTDM) opposite R .Madhavan. The film did well at the box office and since then there was no looking back.
