Dr. Shivinder Singh Sidhu is a remarkable administrator. He has represented India in various International Seminars including the United Nations. After serving for different prestigious positions he has been appointed as the Governor of Manipur.
Dr. Sidhu was born on October 13, 1929. He has done his Masters in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics and secured Ph. D in Economics Development, University of Kanpur. He joined the Indian Administrative Services (IAS) in the year 1952. Since then he has rendered his service to the State and Central Governments. He served as the District Magistrate, Kanpur and as Secretaries to the Chief Ministers of U.P. He has also served as the Secretary to the Government of India in various capacities. He was the Chairman of Air India and Indian Airlines.
Dr. Sidhu was the Secretary General, International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Canada from 1988 to 1991. He is the President of Foundation for Aviation and Sustainable Tourism (FAST). He has written several books from his experience and expertise. Two of the books he has penned are 'Tourism and Aviation-Airborne for Progress' and 'Flight into the Millennium-Aviation and Tourism Symbiosis'.
