Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore Biography

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, the eminent shooter came into the spotlight when he bagged the first individual silver medal for India in the Men’s Double Trap shooting event at the Summer Olympics of 2004 in Athens. He also won the gold medal in the team and individual events in the Men’s Double Trap at the Asian Clay Shooting Championships, 2005 that was held in Bangkok.

He born on 29 January, 1970 in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan has made India proud with his shooting repertoire and his award winning feats. He was also the member of the winning team that won the gold medal for the country in the double trap event at the 2005 Melbourne Commonwealth Shooting Championships. He has also performed on international level.

He was honored with the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM). In fact was also the first officer from the Indian Army who was awarded the AVSM in spite of not holding a brigadier rank.

Apart from this Rajyavardhan also received the Arjuna award in 2003-2004 for shooting. He was also bestowed with India’s highest sporting award- Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in 2004-2005.

Rajyavardhan Singh also received the Padma Shri.
