Early life and Career

Anushka Sharma is an Indian actress, model, and film producer. She was born on May 1, 1988, in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. Before becoming an actress, she was a model. Anushka Sharma was selected as Wendell Rodricks’s finale model for Les Vamps Show at the Lakme Fashion Week and made her debut in the field of modeling. She has done campaigns for brands like Silk and shine, Whisper, Nathella jewellery etc. Anushka Sharma has acted in 15 films till now and has successfully established herself as an actress in the Hindi film industry. She made her acting debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in 2008 in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. She was nominated for Filmfare awards for best actress and best female debut after the success of her movie. She is one of the highest paid actresses in India. She has received several awards in her acting career for best actress in several films including Ladies vs Ricky Bahl and Band Baaja Baaraat, best-supporting actress (for her role in Jab Tak Hai Jaan).

Personal life

Her father Colonel Ajay Kumar Sharma is a retired Indian Army officer. Her mother, Ashima Sharma is a housewife. Her father is a native of Uttar Pradesh and her mother is a Garhwali. She has an elder brother Karnesh Sharma who is a film producer and former Merchant Navy officer. Sharma has stepped into the production line along with her brother. They have established a production company named Clean State Films. She has stated that having a military background played an important role in shaping her as a person. In an interview with The Times of India in 2012, she said she takes more pride in saying that she is an army officer’s daughter even more than being an actor.

She was raised in Bangalore and completed her schooling and graduation from the Army Public School, Bangalore, and Mount Carmel College, Bangalore. After her graduation, she moved to Mumbai to pursue her career in modeling. She was groomed by famous style consultant Prasad Bidapa, after she enrolled herself at the Elite Model Management. Now, she is a successful actress in today’s time. Anushka Sharma is a supporter of Peta and has opted Vegetarianism in 2015. In 2017, she married cricketer Virat Kohli.
