Celina Jaitley Biography

Celina Jaitley, the beautiful blue-eyed belle of Bollywood, was born on June 9, 1981. Born to a Punjabi father and an Afghan mother, Celina was born in Kabul, Afghanistan but spent her childhood in Kolkata, India.

Celina’s father is in the Indian Army and her mother was a beauty queen in her own times. Being very close to her father, Celina’s childhood dream was to serve in the army either as a doctor or as a pilot. But fate had other plans for her. After completing her graduation in Commerce, Celina Jaitley followed her mother’s vocation and entered the glamour world by taking part in the Femina Miss India Contest in 2001. She won the Miss India title in 2001 and immediately shot to fame. Celina Jaitley was the fourth runner-up in Miss Universe Pageant 2001. With her sharp features, attractive eyes, hour-glass figure and a warm personality, Celina won the hearts of young men.

Winning the Miss India title, opened up the modeling world to Celina. She did a number of ramp shows and became a favorite among fashion designers. Celina Jaitley also acted in a few music videos like Bombay Viking’s ‘Zara Nazron Se Kehdo’.

Like other winners of the Miss India title like Sushmita Sen, Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra and Lara Dutta, Celina Jaitley also finally entered Bollywood as a Hindi film actress. Her debut film is the action and musical drama Janasheen (2003). Paired with Fardeen Khan, Celina’s character was named Jessica Pereira in the film. She was quite liked by the audience for her looks and acting skills. More films like Khel, Silsiilay, No Entry, Jawani Diwani, Zinda, Tom Dick and Harry and Apna Sapna Money Money, and others followed. In most of these movies, Celina Jaitley played the glamour element. No Entry was a major hit of Celina Jaitley for which she had won the Kalakar Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Lovingly called ‘Chinki’ at home, Celina is very attached to her parents and brother. Some of her upcoming movies include No Entry II, One Night, Unusual Love Story and Hey Baby.
