Dia Mirza Biography

Dia Mirza was born on December 9, 1981, in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. A model turned Bollywood actress, she was Miss Asia Pacific for the year 2000 and also the second runner-up in the Miss India beauty contest in 2000.

Diya’s father Frank Handrich was a German interior designer and her mother Deepa Mirza was a Bengali. They separated when she was six years old. Her father died when she was nine and her mother remarried a Muslim -Ahmed Mirza and so is she called Dia Mirza.

Though she has been brought up in a Muslim background she believes in Hinduism. She lived in Khairatabad, Hyderabad, and went to the Vidyaranya, a school based on the teachings of Krishnamurti.

Dia Mirza’s film career started in 2001 with ‘Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein ‘(RHTDM) opposite R .Madhavan. The film did well at the box office and since then there was no looking back.

Diya worked in the music video ‘Kajara Mohabbat Wala’ in a Sonu Nigam album ‘Kajara Nite’ Besides acting in films, Dia Mirza is a talented painter.
