She has six Filmfare awards to her credit. Her maiden name is Kajol Mukherjee and after marriage she has become Mrs. Kajol Devgan. Though, her fans call her just Kajol. She holds the distinction of being the star who married when she was at the pinnacle of her career ( giving hit after hit) which does not happen often in the Indian Cinema.

In 1995, she starred as Simran in the huge superhit Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, that catapulted her to stardom. Her movies Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) and Kabhie Kushi Kabi Gam (2001) were major box office hits which made her number one female star at that time.
For her stunning performances, she received the Filmfare award six times-in 1995, the Filmfare Best Actress Award for Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, in 1997 the Best Villain Award for Gupt, the 1997 Filmfare Best Actress Award South for Minsaara Kanavu , the 1998 Filmfare Best Actress Award for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, the 2001 Filmfare Best Actress Award for Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and the 2006 Filmfare Best Actress Award for Fanaa .
