Rimi Sen Biography

Rimi Sen is an actress working in the Mumbai film industry. Her formal name is Shoumitra Sen- which she does not use.

Rimi Sen was born on September 21, 1981 in Kolkata, West Bengal. She moved to Mumbai to further her film career Her first effective foray in front of the camera happened when she auditioned for a Coca-Cola advertisement directed by Priyadarshan. Her co-actor was the Bollywood icon Aamir Khan. Priyadarshan cast her in his film ‘Hungama’ which become a box office hit and established Rimi in the Bollywood film industry. In Hungama she played a small town girl who comes to Mumbai in search of a job. Her co-stars was Akshaye Khanna, Aftab Shivdasani and Paresh Rawal.

Rimi Sen also played a major part in the director Ravi Chopra’s family drama ‘Baghbaan’ where she played Amitabh Bacchan and Hema Malini’s granddaughter. The film was a hit and she consolidated her position as a Hindi film actor.

Rimi Sen has starred in many hit Bollywood films like Dhoom (2004), Phir Hera Pheri (2006)and Golmaal.

Her release Dhoom 2 released in November 2006 was a big hit although she played a minor part in the film. Her latest film is Hattrick (2007).
