Shamita Shetty Biography

Shamita Shetty is a talented and aspiring actress of Bollywood. She is better known in tinsel world as the younger sister of Bollywood superstar actress Shilpa Shetty. Shamita was born on 2nd February, 1979 in India.

Well-educated, Shamita Shetty received her formal education from St Anthony’s Girls High School in Chembur, Mumbai, and Graduated with a degree in Commerce from Sydenham College in Mumbai. She is also a diploma holder in Fashion Designing from SNDT. However, Shamita decided to pursue her career in acting, and has come a long way to establish herself in the film industry.

The tall, beautiful and vivacious actress with her stunning looks and talent, Shamita’s first hit in Bollywood in the year 2000 was the multistarrer blockbuster ‘Mohabbatein’. Based on the love stories of six young couples, the film also starred superstars like Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. This film was a hit and launched Shamita’s career.

Although not all of her films were hits, she became better known for her cameos and item numbers, such as ‘Sharara Sharara’ from the film Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai (2001), and ‘Chori Pe Chori’ from Saathiya (2002). Shamita even played brilliant negative roles in ‘Wajahh: A Reason to Kill’ (2004) and ‘Bewafaa’ (2005). She also acted in Zeher (2005) and Fareb (2005) alongside her sister Shipa, films which were well appreciated. Shamita also acted in South Indian cinema, doing films like Raajiyam (Tamil), Leelai (Telugu) and ‘Adi Oka Idhi Le’ (Telugu).
