Vidya Balan Biography

Vidya Balan is a famous Bollywood actress who has acted in about 20 Hindi films. Other than acting in Hindi movies, she also acted in Malayalam and Bengali language films. Vidya Balan was born on January 1, 1978 to Keralite parents P. R. Balan and a housewife mother, Saraswathy. The hometown of Vidya is Ottapalam in Palakkad district in Kerala. She belongs to a Tamil speaking Iyer family in Palakkad.

His father is the Vice President of ETC Channel. She is familiar with various languages, namely Tamil, Malayalam, English, Hindi, and Bengali.

During the beginning of her student life, Vidya studied at St. Anthony Girls’ High School, Chembur, Mumbai. She did her graduation in Sociology from St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai. When she was pursuing her post graduation in Sociology from the University of Mumbai, she received her initial film offer.

On December 14, 2012, Vidya Balan married film producer Siddharth Roy Kapur at a temple in Chembur area, Mumbai, Maharashtra. The marriage was kept a secret till a few days before the actual dates of the marriage were announced by the couple.

Film Career of Vidya Balan

She began her career by hosting television programs, music videos and advertisements prior to receiving her first film offer in the Bengali film Bhalo Theko which released in 2003. The director of this film was Goutam Halder and it won her the Anandalok Puraskar Best Actress award.

She appeared in a number of music videos by well acclaimed groups and artists like Shubha Mudgal, Euphoria, and Pankaj Udhas. She also acted in one or two episodes of the popular Hindi sitcom Hum Paanch. The turning point in her career came when she acted in the Hindi film Parineeta in 2005. This film brought her huge success after which there was no looking back for Vidya. Then she acted in super hit films like Lage Raho Munna Bhai (released in 2006), Heyy Babyy, Guru, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa (all of them released in 2007).

2009 to 2011 was the golden period of Vidya’s career when she acted in films like Paa (2009), Ishqiya (2010), The Dirty Picture (2011), and No One Killed Jessica (2011).

Acting in these films helped Vidya create her base as one of the prominent modern-day actors of Bollywood. She received a number of honors and awards for playing these roles. Vidya is the winner of five Filmfare Awards including one for Best Actress – Critics and two for Best Actress, one National Film Award for Best Actress, and three successive Screen Awards for Best Actress.

According to reports in March 2012, Vidya is ready to act in Ghanchakkar, a production of UTV Motion Pictures. The film has Emraan Hashmi in the lead role and the director is Raj Kumar Gupta.
