Hans Raj Bhardwaj Biography

Hans Raj Bhardwaj is the current governor of the states of Karnataka and Kerala. Mr. Bhardwaj was sworn in as governor of Karnataka on June 29th 2009 and later as the Governor of Kerala on January 16th 2012,

owing to the death of the then Governor of the State Mr. M.O.H Farook. Bhardwaj represents the Indian National Congress and was the minister of state for Law and Justice for five years.

Mr. Bhardwaj was first elected to the Rajya Sabha in April 1982, after which he served as Minister of State in the Ministry of Law and Justice from December 1984 to 1989. He was re elected to the Rajya Sabha in 1988. Additionally, he has also held office in the Ministry of Planning and Implementation, Ministry of Law, Justice and Company Affairs and has also served as Union Minister of Law and Justice.

Mr. Bhardwaj is remembered for introducing the concept of gram nyalayas (rural courts) during the UPA-I government. Bhardwaj is known to be media shy and has been a supporter of the Gandhi family all along.
