Pooja Bhatt Biography

Pooja Bhatt is a Bollywood film actress, producer and director. She was born on February 24, 1972.
She was born in a family associated with the Indian film industry, her father Mahesh Bhatt is a film director and her grandfather was Nanabhai Bhatt of Prakash Pictures.

Pooja Bhatt started her acting career in 1989 with the film Daddy, directed by her father Mahesh Bhatt.

The film was partially autobiographical in theme,where she rescues her drunkard father (Anupam Kher) from self destruction.
In 2001, she did her last film Everybody Says I Am Fine. Since then she has stepped into the shoes of her father and started producing and directing films. Her directorial debut was with Paap in 2003 which cast John Abraham and Udita Goswami.

Her production house Pooja Bhatt Productions’ produced ‘Tamanna’ in 1996. The second film produced by Pooja Bhatt was ‘Dushman’ in 1998, starring Kajol who played a double role.

Her third film ‘Zakhm’ was a great achievement, it won Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration in 1999. This film was inspired from Mahesh Bhatt’s life and Pooja played the role of her grandmother. This is one of her most memorable performances on screen.

In the year 2003, Pooja Bhatt married Munish Makhija, a hotelier. He is better known as Udham Singh, his on screen name as a video jockey on Channel V.
