Commonwealth Games 1970


The Commonwealth Games, 1970 were held in the city of Edinburgh in Scotland from 16th July to 25th July. The event was named as the British Commonwealth Games and was one of the major sports events in the world. The event was participated by well known sportsmen and athletes and eminent personalities from various countries of the commonwealth.

The 1970 Commonwealth Games was the first event of its kind where the metric units were used rather than the imperial units. Around 1,744 participants including officials took part in the event. The main venue of the Commonwealth Games, 1970 was the Meadowbank Stadium.

Australia bagged the first position with a medal tally of 82 while England and Canada were second and third respectively.
