History
The multinational event of Commonwealth Games was held in 1930 in the city of Hamilton in Canada for the first time. It was initially known as British Empire Games (1930-1950), then British Empire and Commonwealth Games (1954 - 1966) and British Commonwealth (1970-1974) and finally Commonwealth Games (1974 onwards).
Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony was organized at the stadium of QEII Park. The marvelous theme song of Commonwealth Games 1974, �Join Together�, sung by Steve Allen, clearly analyzed the true meaning of the Commonwealth and its people.

The events included in Commonwealth Games 1974 were Athletics, Boxing, Badminton, Cycling, Lawn Bowls, Swimming and Diving, Shooting, Weightlifting and Wrestling.
Results
Australia, with 82 medals (29 Gold, 28 Silver and 25 Bronze), took the 1st position while England came 2nd with 80 medals and Canada stood 3rd with 62 medals.
