Commonwealth Games 1978


The city of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada hosted the Commonwealth Games 1978, held between August 3 and August 12.

Opening Ceremony

Officially inaugurated by Queen Elizabeth II, the opening ceremony of Commonwealth Games 1978 was organized at Commonwealth Stadium.

Events

The sports included in Commonwealth Games 1978 were Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Cycling, Gymnastics, Lawn Bowls, Shooting, Swimming and Diving, Weightlifting and Wrestling.

Results

Canada, with 109 medals (45 Gold, 31 Silver and 33 Bronze), bagged the 1st position in the 11th Commonwealth Games while England came 2nd with 87 medals and Australia stood 3rd with 84 medals.
