1994 Commonwealth Games


The XV Commonwealth Games were held in Victoria, British Columbia in Canada. The 1994 Commonwealth Games started on August 18, 1994 and continued till August 28, 1994. The mascot of the games was Klee Wyck, which is a killer whale. The 2010 Commonwealth Games is scheduled to be held in Delhi.

The main venue for the opening and the closing ceremony for the 1994 Commonwealth Games was Centennial Stadium. About 2,669 athletes from about 63 nations of the world took part in the games. South Africa also participated in the Commonwealth Games.

Medals:

Australia won the maximum number of medals in the 1994 Commonwealth Games. It won 88 gold, 53 silver and 43 bronze. Canada came in the second position with 41 gold, 43 silver and 49 bronze. The third position was earned by England with 31 gold, 45 silver and 51 bronze. Nigeria with a total of 37 medals got the fourth position. Kenya secured the fifth position with 7 gold, 4 silver and 8 bronze.
