Summary of Nagaland Election 2014

The general election 2014 took place in the state of Nagaland during the second phase of the polls, on 9 April 2014. The result for the state's lone parliamentary seat was announced on 16 May 2014.

Elector's Photo Identity Card (EPIC)

As per media reports, the plastic EPIC cards were used for the first time by the electors in Nagaland for the general election 2014. This voter card, issued by the Election Commission, contained a coloured photograph of the elector. Over 95.96% electors possessed the EPIC this election season.

Voting Percentage

The state witnessed a total turnout of over 88% of the total 1,43,066 electors in the 16th Lok Sabha election. Though the percentage was much higher in Nagaland than other states, there was an overall drop from 2009, when the turnout was 90.22%.
