Summary of Kerala Election 2014
The general election 2014 was conducted in Kerala on 10 April 2014 to elect members for the 20 parliamentary constituencies of the state. Total 24,251,937 eligible electors were expected to cast their vote this election season, including around 2.5 million first-time voters.
BJP in Kerala
As per media reports, the BJP has had a poor decade in Kerala, but owing to strong anti-incumbency and the growing popularity of Narendra Modi, it was expected to do much better this time.
Participation of women
Out of the 269 candidates fielded by various political parties in Kerala, 27 were female. Also, females led in terms of number of eligible voters, having a count of 12.5 million against 11.7 million male voters.
