West Bengal Lok Sabha Election Results 2014

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) are the two main political rivals in West Bengal. The CPIM-led Left Front consists of CPI, RSP, FB, and others. One of the most interesting aspects of the TMC candidates for the 2014 election was the fielding of many Bengal celebrities such as Deb (aka Dipak Adhikari), Munmun Sen, Satabdi Roy, etc.

According to opinion polls such as the India Today's Mood of the Nation opinion poll, the TMC was expected to win 23 of the 42 seats, while the Left will take 16. According to the Times Now-CVoter National February poll, the Trinamool Congress was to win 24 seats and the Left parties 14 seats. A similar picture was painted by the CNN-IBN-Lokniti-CSDS election tracker, which predicted 20-28 seats for the TMC and 7 to 13 seats for the Left.

Also Check: West Bengal State Map and West Bengal District Map Even though the TMC was likely to do better than the Left parties, the margin between the two in terms of vote share was expected to shrink as compared with last elections.
