Khammam is the headquarters of the Khammam District in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Khammam is the 40th Loksabha constituency of the state.
Khammam Parliamentary Constituency has a population of 158,022 (2001 census). Males comprise 51% of the total population while females constitute the rest of 49%. Khammam Parliamentary Constituency is a strong hold of the INC.
Khammam is famous for the festival reminiscing the name ‘Stambhadri’ from which the name of the state was derived.
