Bordered by Cuddapah District in the north, Nellore District in the northeast, Anantapur District in the northwest, Tamil Nadu State to the south and Karnataka State to the southeast, the town of Chittoor is the headquarters of Chittoor District in Andhra Pradesh.
The population of Chittoor Parliamentary Constituency is 1,52,654 (2001 census). TDP candidates won from this seat successively in 1996.
The town, known as ‘the gateway to Karnataka’, is famous for the temples of Tirupati, Kanipakam and Sri Kalahasti.
