Hindupur is a city in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The Hindupur Parliamentary Constituency is also a municipality. The city has been famous for its silk and jaggery. Hindupur was named by Murari Rao, a Maratha chieftain who named it after his father Hindoji Rao. The Hindupur Parliamentary Constituency is located in the Anantapur District.

Hindupur was also the native constituency of the famous actor, director and politician N.T. Rama Rao. According to the 2001 census, the city has a population of around 125,056. Nearly 51 percent of the population comprises of male while 49 percent are females. The INC party has won nine times from here.
